Meet The Research Team
Doctoral Student in Environmental Engineering
Al-Asel (Ace) Maizer
My name is Al-Asel Maizer, but many call me Ace. I did by bachelors degree at McMaster University in chemical engineering, with a minor in sustainability. I then graduated with a masters degree in engineering and public policy at the same university. After working in Qatar for the ministry of environment, I pursued my interest in studying PhD Environmental Engineering. My focus is on the impact of infrequent heavy rainfall in urban areas (mainly in the Gulf) that damaged infrastructures and affected the community vulnerable to such events. Living in Qatar and UAE as a child, this continues to be overlooked due to the nature of the disaster, and want to contribute to this topic to help reduce the negative impact floods bring to urban areas.
Outside of academics, I enjoy traveling, working out, and reading. Also, I’m a film buff, I enjoy watching and talking about them.
